Narrow-leaved lupin (Lupinus angustifolius) for human
consumption
Narrow-leaved lupin is an annual plant native to the Mediterranean regions of Europe, Asia and
Africa. It has been widely introduced for use as green manure, forage and as a grain legume and
soil improver. The nutritional value of narrow-leaved lupin is determined by its high content of
protein (30–40 %), carbohydrates (40 %), oil (6 %), numerous minerals, vitamins, and other
health-promoting constituents (Lemus-Conejo, 2023).
